Average daily attendance

What does this mean?

The mean number of people attending per day.

Calculated as: total number of attendances in a given period divided by the number of days covered by that period.

How did we get this definition?

One measure of an art facility’s comparative performance is the mean number of people it is attracting to one day’s worth of activity. This mean number of people attending per day is calculated as:

Total number of attendances in a given period / Number of days covered by that period

Related and similar definitions

Here, to keep things consistent, it is recommended that the number of days covered should be every day from the start to finish of that period, and not just the days when there are events or performances on (i.e. days when a facility is dark should be included in the count here).
